clifford_thornton Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 There are some beautiful records on that list, for sure... Albert Ayler on Debut? Frippe and Don Cherry on Bird Notes? Unity Trio on Salaam? All of those I would love to get, but of course for a hell of a lot cheaper! Quote
WD45 Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 There are some beautiful records on that list, for sure... Albert Ayler on Debut? Frippe and Don Cherry on Bird Notes? clifford_thornton Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 (edited) Well, that did seem a little high - maybe twice what those Aylers usually go for. The copy of "Spiritual Unity" with the book is actually a 2nd pressing, and definitely went for too much. The first has a solid blood-red cover with black graphics and liner notes on the back, with a book and signed by the musicians. Now THAT is rare. I believe a lot of these are doubles from his collection; others he hasn't listened to since the '60s... so I guess it's more like 'why not?' Edited December 10, 2005 by clifford_thornton Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 Expensive 2nd pressing, indeed... Ayler ESP Quote
sidewinder Posted December 10, 2005 Report Posted December 10, 2005 Expensive 2nd pressing, indeed... Ayler ESP Evan Parker (or his 'outlet') has also been selling spare Incus vinyls of the Kenny Wheeler 'Song For Someone', sans sleeve (and with a slightly lighter pressing than the original). I picked one up for $10 - a good 'standby' copy at that price. They sound fine and are worth looking out for on ebay. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 11, 2005 Report Posted December 11, 2005 Then you just have to find a $10 empty jacket... I do want that record, but like most things from the early KW discography, it is prohibitively expensive vis-a-vis its supposed 'rarity.' Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 This takes the cake... Brotzmann Trio I mean, it is the private, but still... Quote
