Homefromtheforest Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 The Michael Cosmic "peace in the world" LP just sold for over $2,000 on eBay today. Clifford; this makes the $500 invested in your copy an absolute bargain! Ouch! Quote

In general (rare) free jazz seems to be doing very well on Ebay these days. Earlier this month, the Khan Jamal on Dogtown finished at $1700+. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted October 11, 2018 Report Posted October 11, 2018 yep! I paid $80 for a clean copy not all that long ago, in fact. Quote
sambrasa Posted October 20, 2018 Report Posted October 20, 2018 OK, this is a CD madness, but a true madness all the same. https://www.ebay.com/itm/JEAN-LUC-PONTY-Enigmatic-Ocean-JAPAN-CD-WPCR-16328-2015/253910157201?hash=item3b1e398791:g:FiwAAOSwXW9bsurr:rk:1:pf:0 Jean-Luc Ponty Enigmatic Ocean Japanese CD from 2015, without OBI. US$ 20,000. You can see this seller has other (probably) equally unrare things for equally insane prices available. I can kind of understand Amazon sellers asking outlandish money for not-so-rare things (like: I have it, I'm not particularly interested in selling, but for a thousand bucks I can part with it), but this it just ridiculous. If I'm not wrong eBay takes percentage of every listing, even if it does not sell, in this case it must be heavy. Probably more than this CD is worth in Shibuya Recofan. Quote

I'll assume that this Japanese seller is typing in Yen values and not realizing that it's coming up dollars. Still, even with this mistake, 20,000 Yen is $177 US dollars - still a crazy asking price for this CD, which does not appear to be very rare. Quote
sidewinder Posted October 20, 2018 Report Posted October 20, 2018 Heck, you can buy 4 or 5 original press Hank Mobley Blue Note ‘stick insect’ LPs for that ! Quote

sidewinder Posted January 13, 2019 Report Posted January 13, 2019 I see Amancio D’Silva ‘Integration’ is up there at number 25. Great album (and reissued very well too). Those Miles Davis Mosaic vinyls are to hang on to ! Quote

Pim Posted December 11, 2019 Report Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) Not really Ebay madness but some Discogs madness.... Check out the October top 30 most expensive items.... Quite a lot of jazz in it: Fats Navarro's Memorial Album for 1318 dollars, Horace Parlan's Us Three for 1675 dollars, Clifford Jordan's Blowing in from Chicago for 2300 dollars. An the top one: Albert Ayler's Something Different for 2300 dollars?!?!?! You must really not know how to spend your money if you pay 2300 dollars for a very subpar Ayler record....  https://blog.discogs.com/en/top-30-most-expensive-items-sold-in-discogs-marketplace-for-october-2019/?utm_source=homepage&utm_medium=discogs&utm_campaign=top_30_2019_12_10 Edited December 11, 2019 by Pim Quote

Brad Posted December 11, 2019 Report Posted December 11, 2019 I noticed that Albert Ayler’s Something Different! sold for $2,400. What was different was the price, although I don’t think that’s what Albert had in mind. Quote
Brad Posted January 20, 2021 Report Posted January 20, 2021 (edited) Someone listed various Prestige test pressings on eBay. The listings say they were the property of Fantasy Records. I wonder how they got hold of them. Here’s one of the listings. https://www.ebay.com/itm/293962166590 Edited January 20, 2021 by Brad Quote
