clifford_thornton
Yeah, my attempts at bidding what were for me "crazy" prices never got anywhere. Got a rip of it and it's an incredible LP. Surprised BGO hasn't done anything.
A Lark Ascending
Someone should write a play: 'Waiting for Hum Domo'.
sambrasa
There was something about a reissue decade ago on Amancio D'silva's website (which was made by his family) but of course nothing came out of it. I gave it a listen when I saw this eBay listing and pondered if I should participate. I came to conclusion it's very good, but probably not really worth $2500. Funny thing about those holy grail records is that while they're hard to find and fetch top dollar on auctions, the moment they get reissued they kind of drop out of radar screen. Being so rare means everybody talks about them and they're remembered and cherished. Then one day they get reissued and poof! - talk of the town turns to whisper of the village. sidewinder
I think this is the highest I've ever seen for Hum Dono. Yikes ! Taking into account the number that were pressed though, I'm not suprised.
sidewinder
This is the highest price I've seen for one of the Mike Taylor UK Columbia LPs.. Mike Taylor Pendulum
clifford_thornton
Wonder what these insane-looking privately pressed Babs Gonzales LPs will go for (Fred's got a few on auction)? Also I've never, ever seen the J.C. Heard on Argo. Sick! Edited May 7, 2012 by clifford_thornton

clifford_thornton
I'd expect it to double that at least.

brownie
The Mobley 1568 went up to $3,361! That's low compared to the $5,600 someone paid for a similar item last December
clifford_thornton
Yeah I remember the $5,600 one. Was that Fred Cohen or the Music Matters guys selling it? I can't remember.
brownie
It was sold by someone who had privileged access to the collection of auctioneer Leon Levitt and could pick up albums in top condition! Lucky man!
Dave James
This is the highest price I've seen for one of the Mike Taylor UK Columbia LPs.. Mike Taylor Pendulum I'm in this for the music and the music on this one is transcendent. I have both the Taylor CD's but of the two, Pendulum is clearly the keeper. Of course the fact that he died at such a young age and left such a tiny recorded legacy has to make these outings all the more valuable. I find it hard to choose between the two Mike Taylor albums, although 'Trio' has the edge I think (personal view). Both are astonishingly good - just imagine what he could have gone on to achieve if he had kept his mind.

sidewinder
There's speculation on the 'Jazz Collector' site that that one may potentially be of dubious pedigree. Hard to tell !

brownie
A very nice investment! True Blue The shrinkwrap carried a $1,79 sticker. It sold for $1,414! clifford_thornton
Dunno if anybody's been keeping an eye on bullsite2000's auctions, but he's had some really cool stuff that has gone pretty high (haven't been successful in any of my offers!). kh1958
This seems really odd, a $100 bid for a later Archie Shepp Impulse LP--Attica Blues, and with seven days to go. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARCHIE-SHEPP-w-MARION-BROWN-ATTICA-BLUES-STILL-SEALED-ORIGINAL-1972-IMPULSE-LP-/350808515921?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item51add12551 Edited June 8, 2013 by kh1958

colinmce
I've noticed that if a seller lists dozens of LPs in a certain vain at once (usually free, creative, private press), all of them get bid up way higher than when they're listed "alone". I don't get that.
