brownie Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 $2,400 for the two Donald Byrd-Bobby Jaspar originals! This would have delighted the session producer François Postif! Quote

sidewinder Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 2K for a hammered copy of Trombone By Three? Must be because it's 16rpm ! Hammered copy of Shades of Blue goes for over $1,000! Heck, my copy is better than that ! Quote
Stereojack Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 2K for a hammered copy of Trombone By Three? Probably purchased because the cover art is by Andy Warhol. Buyer apparently doesn't care about the vinyl. I've sold several such items (although never for THIS kind of money) to museums. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 $2,400 for the two Donald Byrd-Bobby Jaspar originals! This would have delighted the session producer François Postif! Amazing ... Wonder what my original VG+ copy of the "Byrd In Paris" LP (the one with Byrd reading the Figaro) would really be worth now. Bought it 7 or 8 years ago in an eBay LP lot for a total of some 50 euros or so that also included an original VG+ copy of Horst Jankowski's "Gäste bei Horst Jankowski" LP on Metronome (which I re-sold for a good deal of the price of the lot as I already had a copy of that one) plus an original Dutch Philips pressing of one of Miles Davis' late 50s Columbia LPs ("Miles Ahead", I think) plus several lesser items. Seems like that buy wasn't the very worst of my vinyl "investments". Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'm sure even a VG+ copy of Byrd in Paris would bring you a few hundred Euro at auction. Nice score. The only LPs I would pay a "lot" for are the Moloudji Tusques records, the Michael Cosmic, and the Hum Dono. I've always been outbid. Quote
porcy62 Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Followin the link of Byrd in Paris I discovered the seller sold a first pressing of an italian book I have, 650 $. Never considered the books I inherited from my father something different then "cultural and emotional heritage", but, man 650 $. Quote
