slide_advantage_redoux Posted January 26, 2005 Author Report Posted January 26, 2005 Another 'True Blue' BN original went even further: $2,375,50 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT A little risky, laying out that kind of bread to a seller with zero feedback. Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 This one's on a roll.... Hard to believe that it could be in mint, especially as there's no pictures to back up the claim.. Roll Call Deep Groove The feedback that the buyer left seemed too low key. Had I snagged, sight unseen, a mint DG of Roll Call, I'd have been gushing like a fool. My guess is that it wasn't quite mint. Quote

MartyJazz Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 On a smaller scale than the Jutta-Zoot, but still "impressive" in terms of what some people are willing to pay, check this out (with 2 days still to go!): eBay deep groove Blue Note madness Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Yeah, and that whipped copy of the Jazz-West Lawrence Marable record they're selling is going for over a grand... Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 This is just outrageous. A grand for a record... Quote
wolff Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 I do not think many of these will sell. Starting price is too high. MOSAIC LP SETS Quote
sidewinder Posted March 28, 2005 Report Posted March 28, 2005 They are also not pristine - the Green/Clark for example has notes in the booklet. Is 'gingerwolf' a distant relative of yours? Quote
wolff Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 WOW!! About 50 Mosaic LP sets up for bid at the moment. First batch ends in 22 hours. Maybe I'll get a 'deal'..... Quote
wolff Posted March 29, 2005 Report Posted March 29, 2005 (edited) They are also not pristine - the Green/Clark for example has notes in the booklet. Is 'gingerwolf' a distant relative of yours? I think 'gingerwolf' is the spouse of a former Mosaic collector. He said, "Honey, if you have to sell them, at least ask for a good price." rostasi Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 (edited) This must be a cult LP in Belgium: PLACEBO - MARC MOULIN LP 33T Probably because it's Philip Catherine's band, but are these pre "Pork Pie" recordings? It appears that it's post-Ponty, so somewhere inbetween? Edited April 3, 2005 by rostasi Quote
Claude Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 (edited) I think it's because of Marc Moulin himself, whose music has become very popular in the "lounge music" scene, and who has not recorded a lot (unlike Catherine) http://houbi.com/belpop/groups/moulin.htm Anyway, it takes just two crazy collectors to push any record to such price levels Edited April 3, 2005 by Claude Quote
Degiorgio Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 All 3 Placebo albums are genuinely scarce. Although this is the most I've ever seen this one go for (its slightly less rare than the other 2: "BALL OF EYES" & "1973"). They usually go for between £150-£300 GBP... especially mint copies of course. Marc Moulin's SAM SUFFY also goes for a lot of money. Although Moulin doesn't seem too impressed by them now, they remain cult electronic jazz albums - especially to beat collectors (great, sparse funky drums). Great moog and horn arrangements... and of course Moulin's electric piano playing. KD Quote

wolff Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 Miles/Coltrane Mosaic sold for $270. As you know it's still available from Mosaic for $162. Quote
clandy44 Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 Wolff-You have to look up the feedback on the winner of the Miles set. He picked up about 68 positive feedbacks on March 28 from seller "Funk You" for an alleged 68 different purchases from that seller on that day. Something smells fishy here. Quote
wolff Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 I see he bought a ton of jazz LP's from Anthony Pearson and paid top dollar, then some. He can bid on my auctions any day!!! Quote
