The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 is it possible ? Yes everything is possible when it comes to Blue Note. (Who are those guys, by the way ?) One of them's a trumpet player who had a brief spurt of popularity in the mid sixties, before lapsing back into obscurity. Another is a completely obscure tenor player. MG Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 And of course Academy wouldn't note that it's a repress... Quote

michel1969 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) look at this second press : sunday at the village vanguard how is that a second pressing? No "real" deep Grove, typical late reissue. very near an original, but a slight difrence in the deep groove. Samples below are not very clear...the first two are originals DG, the last is repress. kh1958 Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Lee Morgan Indeed for $2927. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8#ht_500wt_1182 Quote
clifford_thornton Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Mostly some "average" BN and Prestige "rarities." The most uncommon bit seemed to be the Jim Pepper on Nabel. Quote
Chalupa Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I don't think I've ever seen one of these go for over $400...... http://cgi.ebay.com/DON-PULLEN-MILFORD-GRA...93%3A1|294%3A50 Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 (edited) The hand-painted Pullen-Graves? The first time I saw it on eBay (2002?) it was about $1,200 and I haven't seen it end cheaper than that since. $400 for the second, gold-cover edition, sure... edit: quick check of Popsike and $1,500 is the lowest with a second edition just shy of a grand... I have Nommo and can live with that. Edited June 2, 2009 by clifford_thornton Quote
Chalupa Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Hmm... I must of been thinking of something else. Man some of those prices are crazy... http://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php...rd=&thumbs= I wonder why Milford doesn't re-release both volumes? Are the tapes AWOL? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I spoke with a label who had wanted to do something with Milford about reissuing those records - don't think it's gonna happen in the foreseeable future. From what I understand, he's not particularly interested in seeing any of the IPS or SRP material reissued. Quote
Chalupa Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 That's too bad. Well here's another one starting @ $600. Free shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/DON-PULLEN-MILFORD-GRA...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I would wager that, like the first edition of the New Acoustic Swing Duo and the Jihad titles, this will become an eBay hands-changer. Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I still regularly do searches by "Gene Harris" hoping to find a couple of long OOP Japanese-only releases by the Ray Brown Trio. This copy of a common Concord release at nearly $150 certainly makes this copy of the same album, which is autographed and half that price, look like a bargain. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Seems reasonable. Who knows, maybe someday you or I can afford a copy! Quote

clifford_thornton Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 It'll go there - still three days left. I'm curious about that Dexter/Griffin LP on Joker that they've got. Never seen it. Quote

Hoppy T. Ken Dryden Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 I've seen all kinds of silliness, but when did American bootleg labels ever send out promo copies? That's what this TMOQ audience recorded bootleg of a part of Frank Zappa's 1970 200 Motels concert at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion claims to be. My guess is that someone added the promo stamps after the fact. http://cgi.ebay.com/FRANK-ZAPPA-20-MOTELS-PINK-WAX-PROMO-TMOQ_W0QQitemZ260554575195QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item3caa434d5b#ht_500wt_975 In any case, this music, including portions not released on record, has been circulating among collectors for some time. clifford_thornton Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 The "Promo" will also deter eBay no-bootleg rules. Quote
Chalupa Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Man, I thought I overpaid for my copy of Clifford Thornton's Communications Network when I got it from Cuscuna last year for $75 but $305?? Yikes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320490594168 Quote
clifford_thornton Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Foolishly high price for that mediocre LP. Should be $40 at most! Quote
