That's actually pretty funny. Like all of us, I've no use for Mr. G's music, but the fact that he apparently doesn't take himself too seriously these days is encouraging. I was going to wish a Super Bowl soprano malfunction on him, but I think I'll hold off.

I was surprised to see a couple of years ago a list of top selling album acts, and over the course of his career, Kenny G has sold 2/3 the number of albums as The Rolling Stones.

As I have noted many times before, no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.

There are a lot of elevators and food courts out there.

Ye, it's pretty amazing how popular he is. I have been spending a lot of time in Africa lately, and Kenny G is quite popular there. It is really a mystery to me. For most popular music that I don't like, I can usually understand, at least to some degree, why it is popular. Not so with Kenny G. I have absolutely no idea what people like about it.

Most people enjoy music that isn't very challenging. No thought, just listen. The beautiful music crowd. How else can you explain the popularity of Kenny G, Yanni, John Tesh, Andre Rieu, Celtic Women...the list goes on and on. I've seen people leaving concerts by the likes of these folks and they look like they've been worked over with a happy stick. Music at an incredibly superficial level is all most folks really want.

My wife has been to a Kenny G concert. Some years before we met, she worked as an au pair in Florida. She spent a year with the family, and after several months, her family went out for a couple of weeks holiday. They all went to some outdoor concert where Kenny G was headlining.

When she described the sunshine and sunset, the warmth (important to a Brit!), having her family around, and the undemanding, pretty music, I could see why she enjoyed it. That said, she has never listened to Kenny since.
