GA Russell Posted February 5, 2011 Report Share Posted February 5, 2011 Bob Hurst has two new albums out, the first of which is called Unrehurst vol.2. This was a live recording of a 2007 gig at Smoke in New York with Robert Glasper on piano and Chris "Daddy" Dave on drums. There are five songs - two originals by Hurst, one by Glasper, I Love You and Monk's Dream. Due to a snowstorm, the group was unable to rehearse prior to the gig, although Hurst and Glasper had played and recorded with each other before. I like it. For the most part, your opinion of the album will depend upon your opinion of Glasper. The two standards are pretty much mainstream, and the three originals less so.
