JSngry Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 I'll entertain arguments about her Donovan, although that's probably more to Jimmy Haskell's credit. Quote
JSngry Posted January 31, 2011 Author Report Posted January 31, 2011 In fact, I'm giving Haskell some major props here for doing the whole "psychedelic easy listening" thing that TTK notes so admiringly in other works, and doing it very, very well here. But Morganna King ain't happening here. Quote

But Morganna King ain't happening here. the 2 morgana albums of the 60s on mainstream with big torrie zito arrangements are definitive. all the rest of her work is garbage, as far as i'm concerned. Niko Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Bill Heine quotes King's ex-husband Tony Fruscella: "The poets took over, and their energy drew over those guys with the funny haircuts, the B-E-A-T-L-E-S, and Tony Fruscella started to pull his hair out of his head and said, “Man, this is the end,” and it was. Ken Dryden Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 I remember finding Morganna's dreadful recording of "Human Nature" and left it on a saxophonist's answering machine. The response was, "What in the heck was that? It was awful!" Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 The Muse recordings are worthy of consideration. Quote
JSngry Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 I have considered them and...I guess I just don't get her. Quote

Everyone is doing it, from a middle-aged accountant in Peoria on his smoke break, to a pretty housewife in suburban Connecticut planning a fondue party. The vibrations of today are in the air - we need only open our hearts and minds to receive them. Edited February 1, 2011 by Teasing the Korean Quote

JSngry Posted February 2, 2011 Author Report Posted February 2, 2011 Here we go: I could've gotten all up in this if they've wiped the vocal tracks and put damn near anybody else (except maybe Speedy Relief and/or Rusty Warren, including Edye Gorme and/or Sebastian Cabot) on instead. Big props to Haskell for that chart, but it's not his album, ya' know? Too bad. Quote
JSngry Posted February 2, 2011 Author Report Posted February 2, 2011 But on the page, nevertheless. Quote

Larry Kart Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Wait a minute -- Morgana King did the Beatles? (I'll be here all week.) P.S. What's going on at or about the 2:35 minute mark of "Tomorrow Never Knows" is a soundtrack for Purgatory. Quote
