bertrand Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Looking at the Lee Morgan discography, it seems I have almost everything. I even just bought an MP3 of 'Midnight Cowboy' just for the hell of it. The session below is one I don't have. Is it available on CD or as a legal download somewhere? How about Great Wide World Of Quincy Jones? Does Lee solo on this at all? Thanks, Bertrand. Have them on an old 60s LP from the UK - pre the 'Affinity'. Didn't this stuff come out on Koch Jazz some years ago? Quote
Ken Dryden Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Blues Bag was reissued by Koch on CD in 2000, though it is surely out of print. It replaced the LP I had. Quote
JohnS Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Haven't played Blues Bag in years. I'll dust off my Affinity album and give it a spin. Quote
colinmce Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Modestly priced on Amazon and coupled with a fine Louis Hayes/Yusef Lateef date: http://www.amazon.com/Blues-Bag-Buddy-Defranco/dp/B000024YGC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1296144012&sr=8-3 Quote
shaft Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Hi, Lee Morgan indeed has on solo on "The Great Wild World of Quincy Jones in the song Air Mail Special." Very nice solo indeed even if it's not really a Lee Morgan essential CD he makes a wonderfully "hot" effort ;-) If you want the music you have a couple of ways to go: 1. By the Japaneese CDs. Jewel or Mini LP 2. Get the Lonehill edition 3. Buy the Quincy Mosaic box. It is a VERY nice big band box. Happy Hunting! /Shaft Quote
