CJ Shearn Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 I picked up the Collector's Choice version today, got it for free actually, as I bought the requisite number of used discs. Anyway my question is, how is this old version vs. the RVG and Mosaic? Clips of the RVG seemed too bright to me, and this old McMaster is one of the ok ones it seems. Quote
colinmce Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Look Out is not part of the Mosaic set. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 Really? Thanks for the info then. Quote
colinmce Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Yep. The Mosaic is comprised of quintet and sextet sessions between 1961 and 1969, most of them never released on CD (or sometimes even LP). The albums are: -Comin' Your Way! -Jubilee Shout -A Chip off the Old Block -In Memory Of -Mr. Natural -Another Story Quote
mellowT Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 Look Out is not part of the Mosaic set. In my opinion, it should have been along with Z.T.'s Blues and Easy Walker, instead of the subpar Shirley Scott material. Quote
Shawn Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 The Collector's Choice series was from 1995, but I believe the mastering dated back to the 80's on many of the titles. The mastering on Look Out always seemed okay to me. The album itself is fantastic, one of my favorites by Turrentine. Quote
Dmitry Posted January 27, 2011 Report Posted January 27, 2011 This title is scheduled to come out on the Audio Wave XRCD. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 Sweet. Will have to check that out Quote
