GA Russell Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 Amazon has a pilot program in Seattle delivering groceries with no delivery charge on a weekly basis. FT says that they will soon expand nationwide. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/bb320f30-2715-11e0-80d7-00144feab49a.html#axzz1BuLsh6Iu Quote
BeBop Posted January 24, 2011 Report Posted January 24, 2011 I used to get groceries shipped to my various PO Boxes on a schedule. Saved a few bucks with the scheduled-orders discount and avoided hauling bulky items place to place. I can't see the Financial Times article without registering, but it sounds like they're moving past the old non-perishable items(?) by mail. Quote
GA Russell Posted January 24, 2011 Author Report Posted January 24, 2011 BeBop, part of the appeal is that Amazon is offering the service with no minimum. It already offers groceries in the UK and Germany. Quote

Spontooneous Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Imagine what we could do to the "Frequently Bought Together" display if enough of us bought, say, a can of chicken soup and a copy of "Unit Structures" on the same order. Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Can you download the groceries? And if so, do the food products taste as good? Or should I stick to brick and mortar? Quote
