michel devos
This excellent set is supposed to include all of the sessions performed by Gerald Wilson, notably for Pacific Jazz.Howe'ver, I see only 3 tracks coming from the original album (published in 1962?) "You Better Believe it" featuring Richard Holmes as solist. I remember this LP to include something like 10-12 tracks, a.o A Taste of Honey. Does anybody know what happened to this missing material? vibes
Michel, AMG shows that there are seven tracks on this album. All seven tracks are in the Mosaic set, which I purchased about a year ago and have been enjoying ever since. Here's the track listing, per AMG: 1. Blues for Yna Yna 2. Jeri 3. Moody Blue 4. Straight up and Down 5. The Wailer 6. You Better Believe It 7. Yvette Hope this helps!
Chuck Nessa
I have the original lp and it indeed has 7 tracks. Mention of A Taste of Honey leads me to believe you are confusing this date with one by Lloyd Mayers and Oliver Nelson.
JSngry
Does the Mosaic include the Les McCann vocal album that Wilson and his band participated in?
sidewinder
Afraid not - neither does it include the 'Electric Connection' album arranged for Jean-Luc Ponty (although there is one very nice track with Ponty on the Mosaic that is not on this album ). Not sure about the McCann (never heard it) but the Ponty is worth getting hold of for anyone who likes the Mosaic (and who doesn't... ). JSngry
The McCann vocal album is pretty darn nice. Found a LP copy a few years ago. Great version of "Please Send Me Someone To Love", a.o..
sidewinder
I'll look out for it. I have to say that just about anything with Gerald's moniker on it triggers an automatic reflex 'buy' response, $ permitting..
michel devos
Thanks , guys, for your infos...I'm glad to see all the tunes of the album 'You Better Believe it 'are included in the Mosaic set, I 'll rush to order my copy. Regarding the 'Taste of honey', Chuck is probably right : I remember (but can I still trust my memory after this?) I read the original review in DownBeat and the Lloyd Mayers LP was reviewed in the same issue. Many thanks again
BFrank
You might also consider his new release, which has received great reviews and also includes a few tunes originally in the Pacific collection. Take a look at the Carmell Jones Mosaic Select, too. Gerald is all over this one.

sidewinder
Have just bought his latest release. Predictably, its absolutely fantastic. Possibly the best version yet of Viva Tirado (high praise indeed.. ) and a wonderful lineup with Messrs Wess, Dodgion, Henderson, Barron, Faddis, Terry and (Benny) Powell. Album of 2003 ! :rsmile:
