chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 um.....all of them? Quote
John L Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Yes, a much more rational approach would be to get the very short list of Blue Note CDs that might still be in print, and substract that from the total. Quote
king ubu Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 No'Jo(um, that's the "in print" list, in case anyone wonders...) Quote
bertrand Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I know we're all supposed to have gotten over Blue Note by now, but I still miss the excitement of waiting for the twice-a-year batches of reissues (usually 6 a batch). We griped about how often some titles were recyled, but there were usually a couple in each batch that I didn't have yet (and in most cases had never heard). Now I have to rely on TOCJ reissues and hope Da Bastards have them at a reasonable price. Some titles I still don't have (all are in Mosaic boxes that I missed): Donald Byrd: Chant Donald Byrd: The Creeper Bennie Green: Back On The Scene Bennie Green: Talkin’ And Walkin’ Blue Mitchell: Bring It On Home Blue Mitchell: Heads Up! Blue Mitchell: Step Lightly Horace Parlan: Headin’ South Dizzy Reece: Soundin’ Off Larry Young: Contrasts There's probably a couple of Turrentine and Hutchersons as well, but I'd have to check the discography later. JSngry Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Are you wanting OOP BN reissues, or everything BN? Quote
Dmitry Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 I just want to see what's gone out of print. Yhought someone had a list of oop BNs. Or, like John said, I could just browse the BN site, and see what's available. But the new BN site gives me a headache. Quote
JSngry Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Well, if you take in all the new issues by the post-revival Blue Note, that's a lot of stuff, much less than the reissues... and a list would be nice. Quote

Bertrand. For whatever reason, the Bennie Green Select can still be had for more than reasonable prices (several copies are under $40 on Amazon). I imagine there would be duplication with Soul Stirrin' on your part, but I couldn't possibly recommend the set more. Quote
bertrand Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Well, I have both Soul Stirrin' and the 45 Session, so I just need these two. Right now, I'm hoping they will come out in one of these TOCJ reissue series and that I can get them from dabastards for $15 a pop, but we really have no idea what Toshiba will put out - after Golden Boy and Heaven On Earth, anything is possible. Thanks for the tip, though, definitely an option to consider. Bertrand. Quote
