attar1 Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I am an amateur writer and am looking for biographical information on Leo Parker for a book I am writing. I have both BN albums and the liner notes have very little on his life especially his childhood. I would appreciate any sources that anyone can suggest. Thanks Quote
brownie Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 The Vladimir Simosko book on Serge Chaloff includes a small biography and a full discography of Leo Parker. Quote
bertrand Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) Leo Parker had some DC connections, so you could try to contact the Felix Grant Jazz Archives to see if they might have some leads. Also, I know a musician who I think knew him a bit; I can try to see if he would be willing to talk about it. I'm guessing Buck Hill must have known him as well. Butch Warren probably knew him also; I will ask him. Bertrand. Edited January 2, 2011 by bertrand Quote
