Great news on the CBS titles (and we see this sort of great news all too seldom at this late date in the CD era). Have hoped for this ever since I sold my Mosaic box to raise cash many years ago. With this, will there be anything in his canon that has not appeared on CD? The Contemporaries came out, 32Jazz handled the Muse's, this completes the CBS's, the Elektra Musician's also came out on Wounded Bird, ENJA and Red put their titles on CD, and his other releases were all CD-era. sidewinder Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Reading this will spur me to dig out the Woody Shaw Mosaic set today ! Great music, for sure. I even like the couple of vocal tracks. Quote
Kyo Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Yeah, saw that just the other day. Very good news, I've been waiting for these individual CDs after giving up on the Mosaic eBay market! Quote
skeith Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Great news. Thanks CJ for calling attention to it. Quote
AndrewHill Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Glad to see the rest of his Columbia titles are being reissued. Love Rosewood and Stepping Stones. Quote
bertrand Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 If these reissues were done correctly, For Sure should include 'Teotihuacan' which was not on the original LP. If they went above and beyond the call of duty, Woody III should include the tune 'It All Comes Back To You' which was on the Stepping Stones LP but dropped from the CD in favor of some unissued tracks. Bertrand. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 Doesn't appear to be the case Bertrand. Quote
bertrand Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 That's a shame, especially about For Sure. Bertrand. Quote
John Tapscott Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) Better grab 'em quick if you want them. (Thankfully, I have Woody's Mosaic set). Wounded Bird sometimes deletes titles quite quickly. Edited January 4, 2011 by John Tapscott Quote
felser Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Doesn't appear to be the case Bertrand. I don't recall Wounded Bird ever going above and beyond in any aspect of anything. But am thankful for many of the titles they have put out that no one else has bothered with. Quote
bertrand Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) Got all three from CD Universe for $8 each plus shipping. Too bad about the absent bonus track - it would have killed 'em to include it? It seems the only leader dates by Woody that I do not have on CD are Love Dance and the two with Tone Jansa. Bertrand. skeith Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 I picked these up and I am very happy. Not surprisingly, the sound is superior to the Mosaic box set. enjoy!! Quote

skeith Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Jetman Yes to my ears, really. That Mosaic box was quite a long time ago, I assume they can do things better now. Quote

skeith Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 Jetman and JAW Out of curiosity - have you guys compared the Mosaic to the Wounded Birds? I have. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Doing nothing to the tapes is the cat's meow for many! Quote

If you reread my posts, you'll notice skepticism, but not out and out disbelief. A/B'ing is definitely NOT worth my time. Life's too short. If you're happy with the WB's, I suppose that's all that matters. Quote
EyeSpeech Posted March 1, 2011 Report Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) Did Mark Wilder remaster this? Edited March 1, 2011 by EyeSpeech Quote
