Any idea how old it may be? Got any more photos? Any showing the underside of the base? I wonder how many switches are on that thing! The underside is covered with felt. There's only one turn-switch for all the bulbs, which, along with the wire and plug, are definitely not new. I like that every stem can be turned and twisted in any way imaginable. Dmitry Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 Back to the MSM theme...just stumbled on these photos of Louis Armstrong chillin' in a very much "original pressing" Wassily chair. He must've done a photo session in that studio. Because here... Quote
Jim R Posted March 29, 2017 Report Posted March 29, 2017 Cool pics! Not Marcel Breuer's Wassily Chair, however... Here's the Wassily: Quote
Dmitry Posted March 29, 2017 Author Report Posted March 29, 2017 (edited) Good eye, Jim! These Louis' photos must've been taken in Europe in the early 1930s. Armstrong's relationship with modern seating was very solid! This was taken at his home In Corona, Queens. The chair is still there, looks reupholstered. Here's the chair now - light upholstery.
