Trane:"Live in Japan" missing disc 1

I got this early for X-mas and called Amazon, which is mailing a replacement because it's missing disc 1! It was sealed but the spine looked popped open with no tray underneath the cover. Is this an issue with this almost 20 year old set?

Never heard of that before. Sounds as if it was assembled wrong at the factory or something like that. . . .May have only been that one copy?

At least with Amazon. . . you've got a replacement on the way.

Yeah, I'm actually surprised Impulse never reissued this as a 20 or 24 bit master. From what I sampled on Youtube the sound is decent.

The 1991 issue of this is apparently out of print?

John Coltrane: Live In Japan

I just loaned my copy to a friend, and another friend joked that I'd better take out insurance on it.

I'm sure it's been reissued in some form on some non-Impulse label... plus it's most likely readily available in the digital wilds or not-so-wilds of 2020.  Starting to feel like Rip van Winkle, though... "Huh?!  How could that landmark set that was released nearly 30 years ago at this point be commercially unavailable now?" 

 

EDIT:  looks like there's been a relatively recent Japanese reissue.

My guess is this was originally ordered from Momox, via Amazon. They have sent me a couple of bogus sets and are impossible to get reparations.

I've had so many problems with them (stuff never arriving) I largely refuse to order from them, but they always gave me refunds.

I upgraded my early "Live in Japan" CD issues (two x2 CD sets) in 2011 with the 5CD Live In Japan SHM set (has an extra CD of interviews made in Japan at the time of the tour)
