please tell me, if you find out more! always interesting to see recordings by people like gers yowell whose previous discography consists (e.g./in this case) of a few notes on a Charlie Parker bootleg...

apparently the cd was available from cdbaby under this address

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/cinderella

but it isn't anymore... one of the drummers, Doug Yowell, has a webpage, but he doesn't list it in his discography (apparently he does studio work with people like eros ramazotti and suzanne vega (huge difference, of course) otherwise... so not a big chance he is selling it... but maybe he knows someone who does, and since this may be the best document of his dad's playing...

Sounds interesting indeed!

What happened to CDbaby anyways... first they crap large parts of their distributed goodies, then the website craps, too (2 hits for "Joe Cinderella", Album (1), Artist (1), though nothing but dead links...)

what's the "first"? with the Cinderella CD it looks like a small flaw in the page, the page for the album was removed, so it's probably gone for one reason or another, but it's still in the database...

Well, everything changed there a while back... I thought they were bought by someone else or something... dimly remember reading about that somewhere. Never quite looked the same after, and I think plenty of stuff has just vanished in the process.

Hello - just a quick note/update on the "Concept" cd. I recently did an interview with Gers Yowell, the sax player on the album. He goes into some depth about Joe and the recording sessions. You can hear the podcast at palmcoastjazz.podomatic.com.

Gers is a friend of mine, and he's very interested in somehow getting this album back out on the market. He was supplying CDBaby with copies for a while, I believe. Gers no longer has copies. No one yet knows why CDBaby dropped the album, and no one knows how to get in touch with Joe, if he's still alive. Gers is pretty sure that Joe owns the sound recordings, so it's just a matter of getting permission from him or his family.

I will keep you posted on developments. In the meantime you can hear 2 selections from "Concept" on the podcast, and an uninterrupted track on our first podcast.

Regards - Kenny MacKenzie
