Many of you know of Julie's long battle with cancer and I wanted to share this recent Senate floor statement given by her boss of 18 years. Through four rounds of chemo, then brain surgery for one tumor and about 16 CyberKnife treatments at Georgetown University Hospital on four other tumors, she took the hits and would pop back up like one of those inflatable kid's punching bags. Through it all, she never once ventured into 'why me? why me?' territory... and when asked 'why you, Julie?' by others, would always respond 'well, hey, why not me?' Her motto was always 'get over it....get up & get going'. She was so courageous and respected by the nurses and oncologists that they would often quietly pair her up -- in the office waiting room -- with some of the 'newer' cancer patients who appeared to be totally distraught and in shock mode so that she could counsel them and help them along. She was amazing in all respects -- never ever complained when I went totally nutso because of this board and started buying thousands of jazz cds.....and actually liked all the weird beer t-shirts I'd whip up. :)

For 22 years, I was the luckiest guy on earth......

Rolf, I am so sorry for yours and your daughters loss! I thank you for the advice you gave with my Mom's Cancer many years ago...I used your wife as an example to my Mom of someone who didn't let advanced Cancer get the better of her. A true inspiration....

It's small consolation, but know that all your friends here are thinking of you. As others have said, keep the good memories close to you now, and even closer as time goes by. I am so sorry for your loss.
