igotlucky Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) just put it up on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300495905076#ht_582wt_1139 thanks for letting me drop this here Edited November 22, 2010 by igotlucky Quote
brownie Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 It really depends on the condition of the cover and the vinyl. To give you a better idea, here are some Bill Evans VV auctions of the past years... Quote
igotlucky Posted November 22, 2010 Author Report Posted November 22, 2010 yea, had checked popsike a few days ago...think ive got it sorted. thanks. Quote
igotlucky Posted November 22, 2010 Author Report Posted November 22, 2010 No big deal. it's true. after about 15,000 replies on any singular messageboard, one's ability to even feign being impressed by anything is essentially non-existent. Quote
igotlucky Posted November 22, 2010 Author Report Posted November 22, 2010 I'm a mod on another music related board on which I've got about 30k posts. I share Chuck Nessa's sense of crushing ennui. There, there, Chuck. There, there. Quote
Larry Kart Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Not to speak for Chuck (a task I should never take on), but I didn't think he was expressing ennui but rather his simple judgment that the particular disc involved was "no big deal" as a collector's item. Quote

Larry Kart Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 If what you found out on popsike is sound, go right ahead. And maybe I mis-interpreted the tone of Chuck's remark. It happens. But what I said is what I actually thought when I saw it. Quote
JSngry Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 When one shows up here and appears to be showing up strictly for the sole purpose of pimping one's ebay sale, one should not be surprised if one gets an ambiguous response. This is jazz, baby. We know pimps. Quote

This is jazz, baby. We know pimps. if you'll humor me to continue the metaphor: if pimps are a problem, then perhaps get rid of the brothel? im not a spambot; i have a pretty sweet record that (apparently) has value to many jazz collectors. it's not like i started a discussion thread about bill evans in your general discussion forum and then bombed you all with a "oh by the way check my ebay auction" post. i might be a pimp, but im not a shady pimp. AmirBagachelles Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Yo sweet-bay: We would be way more impressed by removing the safety net, i.e. $0.99 starting price and no reserve. I mean this Bill Evans, no issue with awareness or obscurity, right? I have been watching prices for VG or better mono George Russell titles (I have two to sell) and they aren't getting much more than $30-75. On any given day down at the Jazz Record Center here in NYC, there is a bit of vintage Riverside to be had in good condition at average joe prices. Be prepared to be underwhelmed. Cheers Quote
Christiern Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 I was there, at the VV, when this was recorded, and I have a pretty good memory—so I sold my copies (I had 2, one still sealed) for a dollar each. It's only paper and vinyl. Quote

papsrus Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Technically, you were asking for opinions about its value -- a recommendation for a reserve price on eBay. It appears it may be worth anywhere from $1 to $800, depending on whom you ask. Hope you're able to get a decent price at eBay. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 I seem to have excited some folks. Here is the deal: The "artifact" folks should be interested, the "music" folks less so. Riverside lps were not especially well mastered or pressed. I think there are many superior ways to hear this music. That's it. Quote

That's it. cheers chuck well then. artifact folks take note my bombastic listing before has been replaced with a straight up listing...open auction, bid starting at $150. ends tonight..around 10pm PST http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300498616697&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_582wt_1139 Quote
sonnymax Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 And the winner is........No one! I guess Chuck and Chris were right as far as it not being as big a deal as the seller hoped. Will there be a Round 2 (a second auction with a lower starting bid)? Stay tuned for another episode of As The Vinyl Turns. Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 what's next? you might have some success with an OBO offering it at audiogon.com Quote

The piano sound in particlar has not been good on Riverside lps. Edited December 7, 2010 by six string Quote
