jazzkrow Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Saw this on Amazon and elsewhere- 1961 session with Pepper Adams and Duke Pearson-complete with several alt takes. Anyone have/heard this one? Appears prime period for Freddie? Worth picking up? Comments... Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 It was also issued on Prestige under Duke Pearson's name, as Dedication. Apparently the session was put together by/for trombonist Willie Wilson for the Jazzline label, but didn't see release until the Fontana LP under Hubbard's name and, later, under Pearson's. Quote
John L Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Black Lion also released it on CD under Hubbard's name as "Minor Mishap." Very confusing. Quote
J.A.W. Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Remains the question whether this new reissue on Solar is a legit release. Quote
JETman Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Remains the question whether this new reissue on Solar is a legit release. It most certainly is NOT. Quote
JohnS Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I like it, legit or not it's still a nice date. Quote
jazzkrow Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 Damn tricky to follow-I ALREADY have "Dedication" and "Minor Mishap" Never thought to have checked under Pearson or the Hubbard Black Lion. Maybe most everything of Freddie's is out already from that period?? You guys saved me $- Thanks! Quote

I had the Fontana vinyl then was forunate enought to find a Japanese Jazzline cd with the alternates. Quote
shaft Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Yeah I liked the CD in the Duke Pearson incarnation Maybe not essential but very likable. /Shaft Quote
