Hey fans of new jazz!

Just wanted to let you know about a really amazing project happening right now

Search and Restore, a 501 c 3 non-profit, has been booking exciting new jazz artists in New York City for the past two years, with great success. Some artists have included Kneebody, Vijay Iyer, Jim Black’s Alas No Axis, Chris Speed, and more.

Recently, Search and Restore has been in the planning stages of a massive live video project. We are expecting to film over 200 jazz shows in the NYC area in 2011. This will culminate in “artist pages” on our website, which will feature bios, video, and links to upcoming shows for many important NYC improvising musicians. We believe that these artist pages, in addition to our current resources, will unite and strengthen the new jazz community and give artists the chance to reach broader and more diverse audiences.

However, we can’t do this without a little help. We are currently fundraising to supplement this project, and we need everyone’s help. There are all kinds of great incentives to donate (concert packages, CD packages, even crazier stuff), and we won’t receive any of the money if we don’t reach our goal!!! We also have our first ever concert-fundraiser coming up on November 29th, and it will include some really amazing musicians. So far, the list includes:

DJ Logic (turntables)

Ben Allison (bass)

Steven Bernstein (trumpet)

Ralph Alessi (trumpet)

Jason Lindner (keys)

Tim Lefebvre (bass)

Reid Anderson (bass)

Dan Weiss (drums)

Mark Guiliana (drums)

Roswell Rudd (trombone)

Matt Wilson (drums)

Avishai Cohen (trumpet)

Theo Bleckmann (voice)

Henry Grimes (bass)

Andrew D'Angelo (sax)

Dave Binney (sax)

Andy Milne (piano)

+ more TBA
