Justin V Posted September 8, 2019 Report Posted September 8, 2019 There are two copies of Sonny's Prestige box for under $30 on Amazon, although one is without the box and giant booklet. I found mine in a store for $29.99 on Sonny's birthday last year, coincidentally. Quote

GA Russell Posted September 17, 2019 Author Report Posted September 17, 2019 A little expensive to be considered a bargain, but... Caravan - The Decca/Deram Years (An Anthology) 1970-1975 (9 CDs) - 67.55 GBP https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07RP66J95/ Quote

Inconsistent, but some real gems in there, and at $4/CD you can't go wrong. https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Rca-Albums-Collection-9Cd/dp/B07SRJF7CG/?tag=sdepcwus-20 This is a very good set and if you like Nina Simone and her music (and singing), you must listen to it. If only EVERY super-deluxe set came out this way (eventually), I’d buy a ton of them. Quote

Me too, though in this case I have the 3-CD set already ,so this would only give me a CD of rough studio in-progress cuts, so I'll pass. Quote

There does not appear to be any bonus tracks. I think the price is steep. Tell me you disagree. Quote

I have the earlier Esoteric issues of the three albums, and that issue of the live one has much bonus material not on this box. Utility of this box depends on if you have the earlier issues and how much you like the group. "Bundles", with Allen Holdsworth, is the gem of the bunch. Quote

John, I bought all three LPs when they were new. If the price were similar to what OACs go for, I'd probably spring for this. But not for me for now. Quote

Yet they use slightly different business models on ebay. importcds offers 20% off $65 purchase, where deepdiscount does not. Their single CD prices are basically the same (deep discount generally a penny cheaper), yet deep discount breaks out $1.99 of the price as separate shipping, where importcds loads it all into the CD price and ships free. I guess they kept those distinctives from when they were different companies. Collectors Choice was always something very different, even using their own reissue label. They seem to have a presence on discogs as pop.market from what I can tell. Quote

The Tom Rush is really good, 'Circle Game' is a classic early singer/songwriter album. The two earlier albums are an eclectic mix of his folk and rock tendencies. The Korner and DD&B stuff (pubescent Hollywood sons of Dean Martin and Desi Arnez) are not particularly noteworthy. Korner's important work was a decade earlier, in the group with Dick Heckstall-Smith, Cyril Davies, and Long John Baldry. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 3, 2019 Report Posted November 3, 2019 Evidently Universal won't be distributing this in the US and I was happy to find it for under $20 from Amazon sellers. I have the Webern disc and the Gurrelieder but the other 5 discs will be new to me. I love the sound of the Staatskapelle Dresden from this period. https://amazon.com/Schoenberg-Berg-Webern-Giuseppe-Sinopoli/dp/B07T2GN9H7/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me= Quote
