Not sure if that's a bargain or an overpriced collection of material slowly getting out of copyright "prison " , looks interesting, anybody can share more light on this set, details are sketchy at best

I'm not a fan of the Charly label, dreadful sound, often from vinyl. But the set will be interesting listening and broad in scope (120 different artists for the 269 cuts).

Haven't listened to it yet, but it's a sturdy long box, with a thick booklet in landscape format, not the easiest to handle. Plenty of images, not much text, and no detailed discographical data, only year of release.

As for copyright issues, there's a note saying that

The Vee-Jay® logo is a registered trademark of Vee-Jay Limited Partnership [...] used under licence by Artistry Music Limited.

I haven't seen any mention to sources or master tapes.

Their international shipping is high (I don't know how high really), but it might be worth mentioning that discplus.ch has the three Django "season" boxes (containing all the volumes of their "Intégrale") at a very good price (roughly 25€ per box):

Saison 1 - 1928-1938 (14 CD)

Saison 2 - 1938-1947 (14 CD)

Saison 3 - 1947-1953 (12 CD)

in case the links don't work, go here and do a search for "Django saison":

Turns out to be around 118 or 130€ delivered to the US (economy/priority shipping), 106 or 114€ to France or Germany ... not that much of a bargain then, but still not bad, I guess (shipping makes no difference between 2 or 3 of the boxes, for just 1 it's somewhat less, but still pricey ... and now, I couldn't help out, it would probably cost me as much to send them to the US as they charge - they obviously don't have one of those slave labour contracts with mail services the way big bad evil A has, so they're charging actual shipping costs).

Obviously,..... but still.....

BTW I don't think Amazon sells "boots" per se... I presume the recordings are just out of copyright in the EEC.
