Still waiting on that Zeppelin set. My credit card was recently charged but I didn't receive a shipping notice. Rhino tells me it is on its way. Their free shipping offers no tracking an an estimated wait time of 5-12 business days. 3 weeks may have been an accurate call on their part.

At least one more not present in the Living Stereo box:

Rachmaninoff: Concertos Nos. 1 & 3

Pianist Byron Janis, conducted by Reiner and Munch.

Looks like Janis was more frequently on Living Presence, but this was in the Living Stereo series. I suspect they left it out because they already had #3 performed by Van Cliburn.

And Reiner conducting Beethoven's 5th and 7th Symphonies also seems to be missing.

Don't pass on the "Reiner Sound" disc.

Really? I thought the highlight was the Isle of the Dead, which I am picking up paired with Symphony #2. What else must I not miss?

Ok, Imma gonna have to stop, but it looks like there is one more that arguably would have fit and that is Rodgers: Slaughter on Tenth Avenue (actually a number of dance pieces, including some by de Falla, Shostakovich and Copland). This was done by Arthur Fielder and the Boston Pops. It actually looks like a lot of fun, so I think I'll spring for it too.

My OP Mosaic arrived. Packed in a robust though not rigid packet, and it was in perfect condition. The only one of the euromosaics to have the Mosaic serial no. on the spine!

Sadly this is the last of the euromosaics which have kept me in as many (or more) Mosaics as I can get through for a few years now. Last for me personally and last of the series, I mean (I *really* thought the Armstrong was destined for euromosaic status but no...). So if I want any more it will be back to full price, international shipping, lousy exchange rate, and the kind of tax/duty/service charges that can cause a revolution. Those charges never stopped you, eh Flurin? Maybe because one Swiss Franc is worth about $200 (to judge by the prices in Zurich airport...).

Maybe because one Swiss Franc is worth about $200 (to judge by the prices in Zurich airport...).

Well, when I started buying Mosaics, 1US$ was about 1.50CHF - with the boxes at 16$ per disc, plus some 20$ shipping and 20$ of taxes, it was *still* cheaper than most discs I was used to buy in local stores! That may sound crazy, but when I first got these Trueblue catalogues, full with discs at 13 and 16US$, it was like heaven and I ordered huge piles of stuff (well, at least in summer after I earned some money on holiday jobs...)

Anyway, with the $ having gone down and the Swiss Franc having gone up, it's close to 1=1 now and hence Mosaics got cheaper and cheaper in the past years...

That's my perspective, but I guess among the folks here it's a rather unique one (he he, Unique, that's what some marketing/branding morons dubbed Zurich airport, btw).

I found an Oscar Peterson Mosaic offered by an Amazon marketplace seller for $3.98! I'm really curious to see how this purchase turns out. It was advertised as a 7-disc set which comes in 4-CD cases with no box or booklet. The condition of the CDs was listed as like new/perfect condition. I'm asking myself,"What's the catch?" It must be a mis-listing. Why would anyone take so little for 7 discs? CDRs? Condition overstated? It's an Amazon fulfillment and the seller is rated at 99% overall (4.9/5 stars) with 201 ratings. So far, the order hasn't been cancelled. With the shipping, I was more than willing to take a $6.96 gamble.

Got a shipped notice today. I'm excited to see exactly what I'll get. Hope this thing pans out.

Yeah, let us know. I noticed that earlier yesterday myself. I didn't read too closely, so I just assumed it was discs 1-2 or 1-4 or something.

I’m not exactly sure how these Amazon fulfillment things work. I purchased this from a third-party marketplace seller but it was packaged and shipped by Amazon. I’ll give them a thumbs up on the shipping; I ordered on Monday and had it in my hands on Thursday.

This turned out to be the real deal. I got all 7 original discs in their original cases with all the original artwork but no box or booklet as was stated in the description. The cases were all in excellent shape with very minor signs of scuffing from normal handling. Five of the seven discs had a perfect mirror finish. Disc 1 had a few small scuffs on the outer edge and disc 5 had a scratch extending about 1/2 inch into the inside playing surface. I previewed both discs this morning and they played flawlessly. Needless to say, this was a fantastic deal for only $6.96!!

Just a couple of comments on the content of the 2 discs I’ve listened to so far. I know that the titles of jazz songs are often meaningless but I'm left wondering what the story behind the song "Pooper" is. I loved the vocals which obviously sound a lot like Nat King Cole. I’m surprised OP didn’t record more vocals. There have been lesser singers who’ve made a career out of singing. I was very pleasantly surprised by “Streets Boogie” and “Booker T. Blues” at the end of disc 5. They had a more grit and edge than the other material, particularly Barney Kessel. I’m looking forward to giving the rest of this a listen.

One box I am ready to consider:

512XGoUP%2B8L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

$45.21 at Amazon.com, €40,40 at Amazon.fr.

Not bad for 21 discs!

Thanks brownie, I'll consider it also.

That looks very promising (according to one Amazon reviewer at least some of the music, including the Beethoven and Brahms symphonies have been remastered). This looks even more interesting (to me -- given my general lack of interest in opera): http://www.amazon.com/Great-Emi-Recordings-John-Barbirolli/dp/B0031IHBCS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1296238918&sr=8-1-spell

Yes, they are... but while the Album Classics disc come in basic cardboard sleeves, the "For All Time" set has a sturdy box housing the five respective CDs in Sony/Legacy editions with their typically fine booklets/notes and all (not sure all of them have been made available separately, but "Time Out" and "Time Further Out" have and they're identical to the versions in the box).

My first reaction was that if the CD(s) skipped, I could always ask for a refund. Common sense prevailed when I thought about it and realized that just 1 of the discs would have been worth $6.96 and a refund request, while warranted given the description, would have been pretty silly. I'm really happy it all worked out. ^_^

I've received my Zep box. It took about 2 weeks.

The shipping box is a very tight fit, I recommend opening both ends of the shipping box and pushing the box set out.

still waiting here in NY.....sure would be nice to have to listen to during the one-two snowstorm punch headed our way.....
