I see amazon has it for a comparable price. Was it always that cheap? Are live parts available elsewhere? I'm not a Miles completist, so are they indispensable?

IMHO, the extra material on discs 3 & 4 are significantly less interesting than the original Bitches Brew release. So, If you're not a Miles completeist and you already own the 2-disc version of Bitches Brew, I'd say that you're fine.

As ever, YMMV.

Too late, my copy arrived today ... It's nice enough to keep.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Import CDs sale--picked up the George Lewis, Oliver Lake, WSQ, and Paul Motian boxes. Tried to go for the Abrams as well, and it's on backorder... will Import CDs automatically ship it and charge my card once it's back in stock?

I guess other than a few dozen albums, pretty much anything in jazz (or in music) is significantly less interesting than "Bitches Brew" ;)

Black Saint/ Soul Note sale at ImportCDs.

Prices look okay...but what do I know? ;-)

There still seem to be some discounted Black Saint/Soul Note boxes at ImportCDs.  I don't know if prices are up, down, same.  I mention ImportCDs and BS/SN again only because they have a coupon good for 10% off through June 30th - TAKE10.   I haven't tried shopping/buying.

Some of the newer issues seem to still be "not on sale" (e.g. Blackwell)

'Ray's Jazz' in London had the Henry Threadgill at £15 when I was in there a couple of weeks ago. Might be of interest to local board members?

Avoid that Hollies set.  EMI has done a much better job compiling the same material.  Anyone know why a lot of material is being reissued on both EMI and WEA?  Hollies, UFO, stuff like that.  How can they both have rights to it?
