Chalupa Posted March 29, 2011 Author Report Posted March 29, 2011 OH SHIT!!! That's it. We're done. No playoffs this year. See you in 2012. Thanks SI. Quote

Dan Gould Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I'd be more concerned about Utley saying that one of his goals is to play before the All-Star break. Quote
JSngry Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I love how they put Cliff Lee out in front of Halliday in that photo. Quote

Seriously, what were they thinking? Doc won the Cy Young award, threw a perfect game, and threw a no hitter in the playoffs. So SI decides that Cliff Lee gets the front and center spot? Quote
JSngry Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 It's all about marketing the Current Flavor, which is what Lee is (and no real fault found in that). But no way is he the ace of that staff, at least not yet (if ever). Quote

Forget the cover jinx, when is the last time they accurately picked the World Series champion in March? And its only getting more treacherous when practically every writer at the NBC Sports baseball blog has the Sox beating the Yankees in the ALCS, and only a tiny minority not picking them to win the Series, too. I'm afraid to look much closer at any other media outlet. I don't think I can deal with the pressure of these kind of expectations. Quote
JSngry Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Hey, try dealing with the pressure of hoping that your team really does have the character they showed last year and that said character manifests itself in a pitching staff that right now looks like "Spahn, Sain, and pray for rain" without either Spahn or Sain... Patrick Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 I know the weather outside is frightful, but try Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, KC, etc. Enjoy the talent on your team, and the good season they are likely to have. Tribe currently in first place. Quote
