sheldonm Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 I thought I would post a partial list of the remaining used Mosaics at the Jazz Record Mart in Chicago. Again, these were brought in by the family of a man who had recently passed away. Most of the OOP sets seem to be around $25 per disc (LP or CD). For those of you who asked me to pick them up for you, I shipped them today. I'll probably being back in the windy city on 1/11 if any of you are interested in me doing the same. There are several others available, but I didn't list anything that is still in print (except JJJ). Happy Holidays to All!!! Mark Mark Quote
jamf Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 What else did you scoop up? Any of the hundreds of single CDs from that same estate? They haven't even put all of it out yet. People need to buy more to make room for more. I'm trying to do my part Quote
sheldonm Posted December 22, 2003 Author Report Posted December 22, 2003 Jamf, I've bought 4 OOP Mosaics, (Ellington, Chaloff, Monk, Mingus) and about 50 single discs. I need to slow down but I can't help myself . Mark Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted December 24, 2003 Report Posted December 24, 2003 Yes....a big thanks! I can't believe how clean that vinyl is! Quote
sheldonm Posted December 25, 2003 Author Report Posted December 25, 2003 No problem guys, happy to do it! Quote
Rob C Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 That is (or was--it's dwindling!) the most incredible collection of jazz I've ever seen (they told me it was over 9000 discs). I didn't get near the 50(!) that sheldonm picked up, but I got a few gems over several lunch-hour trips to JRM: ISKRA 1903: Frankfurt 1991 Peter Brotzmann: Reserve Cecil Taylor: The Hearth Charlie Kohlhase: Dancing on my Bedpost Anthony Braxton: Eugene (1989) Exploding Customer: Live at Glenn Miller Cafe Andre Jaume: L'Oc Bobby Bradford/John Carter: Comin' On London Jazz Composers Orch.: Theoria Barry Guy/Marilyn Crispell/Paul Lytton: Odyssey And I put back dozens that I would have liked to have got. Still, I'm happy with what I found (though I've only listened to the ISKRA 1903 disc so far, except for samples at JRM when I was going through the painful process of deciding what to buy and what to put back). I nearly choked when I saw that stack of Mosaics, but just couldn't swing any of the ones I wanted. Quote
