Jaffa Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) I have lately played some of my Uptown-LPs again - after 20+ years: What a wonderful re-discovery. Philly Joe's two "Dameronia"-LPs, the two Joe Thomas, Dicky Wells etc.... Can anyone guide me to a listing of the LPs on that label ? The Uptown-Homepage only lists the CDs (plus a few of the last LPs still available). Thanks for your help ! Edited November 2, 2010 by Jaffa Quote

The Uptown-Homepage only lists the CDs (plus a few of the last LPs still available). Thanks for your help ! Unfortunately, I don't have a list either. But "Dameronia" is indeed a nice one. Others I have: Pepper Adams, Live at Fat Tuesday's Dickie Wells, Lonesome Road Carl Fontana, Great Fontana Haywood Henry, Gentle Monster JR Monterose, Live in Albany JR Monterose and Tommy Flanagan, A Little Pleasure Hod O'Brien, Bits and Pieces (Uptown?) Freddie Redd, Lonely City Charlie Rouse, Social Call Buddy Tate - (Didn't note title) Frank Wess and Johnny Coles, Two at the Top I think this information is correct. It's what I noted when I digitized the LPs for my MP3 player, so typos are possible. Edited November 2, 2010 by BeBop Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Argh, the Monterose/Flanagan that still eludes me! Quote
BeBop Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 The Monterose/Flanagan did come out on CD evenutally. But if it's vinyl you seek... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 A listing of Uptown titles is available HERE. The last lp issue was 27.32. The balance of the list is cd only. I see the list hasn't been updated in a while. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 The Freddie Redd is quite good. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Yes it is. Too bad they included a new version of The Thespian. The BN recording was the pinnacle of his discography for many fans and the new one fell short. Something else should have been included to show the special qualities of this wonderful date. Please pay attention to the session - a fine one. My complaint is only about one tune. Quote
BeBop Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 TBR Anderson, Willie Detroit Jazz Before Motown, 1945-53 Please?! Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Not issued. TBR means "to be released". Don't hold your breath. Quote
BeBop Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I haven't been holding it...since January 1, 2005! Quote
