Sounds like a Van Gelder. Peter Ind. I never always liked the way he mic'd the piano - kinda kills makes the dynamics of the pianist SING, gives the instrument a flat fat sound, without a certain sparkle.

Yeah, "Three Waves" is another good one!!! His recent "Mostly Coltrane" CD on ECM is really good too IMHO!!

I bought the CD in question several years ago right before I locked myself in a room for a week to kick my Dusty Groove habit. Glad I got it. Very nice. Steve Kuhn is one of those guys who kind of flies underneath the radar. Too bad. As they used to say in Downbeat, an artist deserving of wider recognition.
