JohnT Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 This is from a great CD if you can find it. The CD also includes 2 versions of Miles "So What" and some other nice tunes. Quote
AllenLowe Posted October 30, 2010 Report Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) Great stuff. Sounds like a Van Gelder. Peter Ind. I never always liked the way he mic'd the piano - kinda kills makes the dynamics of the pianist SING, gives the instrument a flat fat sound, without a certain sparkle. clifford_thornton Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Still need to pick up a copy of Three Waves one of these days. Quote
JohnT Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Yeah, "Three Waves" is another good one!!! His recent "Mostly Coltrane" CD on ECM is really good too IMHO!! Quote
Dave James Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 I bought the CD in question several years ago right before I locked myself in a room for a week to kick my Dusty Groove habit. Glad I got it. Very nice. Steve Kuhn is one of those guys who kind of flies underneath the radar. Too bad. As they used to say in Downbeat, an artist deserving of wider recognition. Quote
