connoisseur series500 Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Which sessions are covered in the Mosaic? Quote
BFrank Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Which sessions are covered in the Mosaic? Paul, albums included are: It's Time Right Now Action Jacknife (originally a 2LP set with 2 sessions) Consequences Quote
mesfen Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 I don't think the April 18, 1966 sessions have ever been on cd (tk3) High Frequency BNLA 457-2 (tk8) Jossa Bossa - (tk15) Combined Effort - (tk20) Moonscape - (tk21) The Bull Frog - Quote
Pete B Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 (edited) I plan to put this up on ebay on Wednesday if nobody reponds by then. A couple of folks asked about trades. I'll trade for either Master Piano Jazz or Art Hodes (lp or cd). Those are the only equivalents that I'm interested in at the moment. Edited October 24, 2010 by Pete B Quote
Pete B Posted October 27, 2010 Author Report Posted October 27, 2010 Last chance - this goes on ebay tomorrow if I have no takers. I'm dropping the price to $120. Thanks Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Almost my first Mosaic as well -- maybe my 2nd or 3rd. Lots of GREAT Charles Tolliver; if you've got this, you've got his complete BN-sideman output as I recall. Everyone I've ever played this material for has suggested something to the effect that Tolliver almost steals the show. Quote

Everyone I've ever played this material for has suggested something to the effect that Tolliver almost steals the show. Tolliver also played on Andrew Hill's "Dance With Death", but I agree the McLean recordings were a great feature for him, including some spectacular writing (love "On The Nile"!). Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) Tolliver also played on Andrew Hill's "Dance With Death"... Oh yes. How could I, of all people, forget him with Hill. Tolliver's also all over disc #1 of the Hill BN Select (half of which was first released on Hills "One for One" 2LP set). And Horace Silver's "Serenade to a Soul Sister". THAT'S his complete classic-era BN output, best as I can tell. Edited October 28, 2010 by Rooster_Ties Quote
Free For All Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) Another Tolliver BN sideman appearance..... Edited October 28, 2010 by Free For All Quote
felser Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Another Tolliver BN sideman appearance..... I believe that one was actually a Pacific Jazz release, reissued on CD by Blue Note. Quote
Free For All Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Oh, right. I should have known that. Quote
