Is this 6CD + prints set still available

I thought you could obtain it directly from Bill Dixon's website but that appears to have shut down? - only a facebook site comes up on searches

There's also mention that an new BD website is forthcoming

any info would be appreciated

From what I gather, the Odyssey set is comprised mostly of solo pieces, many lasting only a minute or two. Also, the sound quality is rather poor on some of the selections. But, if you gotta have it, you gotta have it.

I have it and it's superb.

Once the Dixon Trust's new website is up and running, you'll be able to purchase Odyssey. PM me and I will help you get a copy.

Thanks, will do

It may take us a moment to get the Bill Dixon site up and running. In the meantime, you can purchase Odyssey through Bill's estate by way of me. Send me an email, and I can give you the details. For those interested in Bill and his work, this is an essential component to own and study.

The limited edition ODYSSEY is now on sale exclusively at these two sites:

http://www.discogs.com/seller/Vogel-Music-Sales and http://www.bird-land-sales.musicstack.com/

It is worth knowing, for those of you who are paying attention to this, that Odyssey is a limited-edition product, created (and assembled), signed and numbered by the artist.

There are no plans to re-issue Odyssey once it is gone.

Bill Dixon was a tireless documenter of his own work. You get a taste of this with Odyssey.

He left alot of unissued music, ranging from solo to orchestral work. And that's just the music.

Stay tuned for details.

Resurrecting an old thread since I believe I might have purchased the last available Odyssey box (at least publicly made for sale). Picked it up from Discog. I'm definitely a Dixon completist. I find the man and his work utterly fascinating. Rewatched "Imagine the Sound" last weekend which forced my hand ... had to find and get the Odyssey box. So pleased!

I bought this upon release directly from Bill...he even gave me a nice discount on it at the time...a very nice man in the little correspondence we shared. It's a mammoth set and to be honest I have not even played it all yet(!) but what I have listened to is fascinating indeed.

Almost 3 years from my initial post, I finally decided to go for it

Just received the "Odyssey" set - eventually sourced it through Discogs (Vogel Music International) - you're given the option to "make an offer", which I did & it was immediatly accepted plus there were no shipping charges (to Australia!!)

Extremely happy with the SQ -> much better than the unauthorised Cadence double CD release "Collection" that I have (this is a needle drop of the original 1985 double LP) - the complete contents are on the first & part of the second discs of "Odyssey"

Disc 6, a self interview (recorded circa 2000) is fascinating & shows BD to be a highly perceptive/erudite person.

Highly stimulating & enjoyable music (pour moi) - loving it!!
