Christiern Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I have finally figured out how to transfer and post videos to my blog, so I am starting with a selection from my 1972 TV series, The Jazz Set. It features the Rashied Ali Quartet. Before you go to Stomp Off, please be advised that my transfer technique is a word in progress, so you will find this one to be out of sync—but I'm working on it. David Ayers Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks for posting this but I couldn't get it to work. It said 'This is a private video....please make sure you accept the sender's friends request.' I guess we all have to make friends somehow. Seriously, is this remediable? Quote
thedwork Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks for posting this but I couldn't get it to work. It said 'This is a private video....please make sure you accept the sender's friends request.' same thing for me. Quote
Christiern Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 Sorry about that! I'm still fumbling my way around YouTube. I just wanted to park the video there and have it accessible from my blog, exclusively. Perhaps that is not possible, but I have changed the options, so please try again. If the usual YouTube link (with the image does not work for you, click on the text link immediately above it (in red). Both work for me, but I have no way of telling if that is because it's mine—you know what I mean. Please post your findings here. If you get through to the video, I would also appreciate a comment. Finally, I don't know what I did wrong to get it out of sync, but I welcome any solution. Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I remember seeing this when it was first on on Chanel 13 in New york city. I was in high school at the time and was happy to see new music on television for the first time in my life. Quote
Christiern Posted October 12, 2010 Author Report Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks for that, Randy. Were you able to access it on my blog? Quote

rostasi Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 As I've said here many times: everything stopped around the house for me when these shows were originally aired - absolutely glued to the TV - often with an audio cassette recorder capturing whatever I could get. SOMEONE needs to get these on DVD and release them now! Monumental pieces of great art. I think my fondest memory was seeing Lonnie Liston Smith doing "Let Us Go Into the House of the Lord" on this show. I remember Cecil McBee and, possibly, John Gilmore on this date as well. "Summun Bukmun Umyun" had been released a couple years prior and the thought of actually seeing "...House of the Lord" played on TV was a gift from the outerworlds for this kid. Rod Quote
Clunky Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 Very cool, excellent music of course and the picture quality is better than might be expected , sorry no idea how to fix the sync problem Quote
rostasi Posted October 12, 2010 Report Posted October 12, 2010 I thought that the sync problem might be due to differences in audio sample: 44.1 vs 48, but maybe it is another matter. Check here. Quote

AndrewHill Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Incredibly cool. Thanks so much for posting! Quote
David Ayers Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 The clothes and hair may have dated but the music is as fresh as ever. Quote
rostasi Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Great that the nasty habit is gone. Clothes and hair always become "dated" but there's an undeniable coolness that comes thru that shouldn't be an embarrassment to Chris. Seen especially on the latest (2nd) excerpt, the pacing of the dialogue between him and Rashied is so laid-back and flowing that it's such a turnaround from the usual caffeine-laden selzogene-filled happy-talk that we're inundated with these days. I'll take this, fine thank you. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 So is it synced? I was trying to watch the clips last night and couldn't get any sound except for a few tiny bits. Quote
Christiern Posted October 13, 2010 Author Report Posted October 13, 2010 Sorry, still not synced, but I'm trying to figure it out and will repost these clips if I succeed. The suggestion Rostasi linked to simply removed the audio, completely! If anyone has a suggestion, please post it. I have just posted the final number from this particular show, still out of sync and I cannot recall the title, so I hope someone ill name that tune! Quote
