Bluerein
Ludwig Beck has indeed a fine record section on the top floor of the store. I was there last august and it's in Munich. Recommended for tourists!

mikeweil
Sax No End has some of the greatest sax section writing I have heard in my whole life. This alone would serve Francy Boland a place in the jazz pantheon. Ludwig Beck has indeed a fine record section on the top floor of the store. I was there last august and it's in Munich. Recommended for tourists! They're not the cheapest store in the land, but they have a very wide selection of things, that's for sure. sidewinder
Why is it that on the very few occasions I ever get to pass though Munich I never get chance to check out the record shops in depth. They used to have a good branch of Zweitausendeins though (I'm thinking early 80s here.)
Victor Christensen
I have 15 CD's with that great band, I love them all, the unison sax group is something else. I still have the original LP of "All Smiles", sounds it's some money worth, but I have never been good at that, traded about a 100 BN LP's (first edition) for nothing, Vic
Teasing the Korean
"Flirt and Dream" is his best album. Is it on CD yet? Certain tracks sound like outtakes from "Que Mango," the brilliant collaboration between 101 Strings and The Great Les Baxter.
mikeweil
The only Boland LPs from the MPS catalogue reissued in recent years have been these three on a double CD - highly recommended:
Tom in RI
Well, finally got a copy of Blowing the Cobwebs Out. Klompfoot (formerly Cadence North Country) is blowing it out at $31.50. The catch is you need to buy 15 items from a selected list, which I didn't have much of a problem with. This issue is the cardboard cover version, still quite nicely done. Listening to it as I type. That is less that $12 which seems quite reasonable! Have "Historically Speaking" too and while both sets are great, I definitely prefer the first one. You got a truly great and obscene deal on that one, John (hi, by the way!). Those Tokyo jazz used CD stores were and are awesome. Up again for this very old but very entertaining thread. I've finally managed to source decent copies of both the Campi/Emanon CD boxes. Still worth getting I think because of the otherwise unreleased suites, especially in the first box, even though Rearward has since reissued some of the content in both boxes. Not on CD but strangely enough MPS under their new ownership did digitise it and put it on Spotify.

Got kinda full of Clarke-Boland at one point, when I felt I'd bought/listened to enough. But I'd scoop the vinyl if I ran into it.

Those 'White Heat' etc. albums weren't in the shops here when they came out, as I recall it. Again, must have been German-only issues. I only got copies many years later when they came up on jazzinvinyl. Worth hearing but personally I think that Humble, Persson and Clarke are missed.
