Hardbopjazz Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 I decided to play the piano again after 15 years away from the instrument. Some store, name not mentioned pulled out a fake book and said would I was interested? Do anyone here use fake books? I used to be able to play by just hearing the tune played and never really needed sheet music. Quote
flat5 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Do you ever read instructions on how to assemble something? Fake books are useful to get you started on a tune. A lead sheet can save you time and effort and put you on the right track. A good lead sheet respects the composer's intentions. It's a good place to start. Quote
