Ibuchreitz Posted September 2, 2010 Author Report Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) maybe we should change it to transvestite hermaphrodite alto clarinet player - That's a brilliant idea. It would really narrow the field down! Just illustrates that some of the most popular topics are started while under the influence. This is not the first time I've done this, I just thought (&^*ยค%"@!!) I'd finally learned not to do it. I was amazed to see four pages of people posting to that topic I completely forgot about writing, when I finally found it... This is embarrassing. If any of you ever visits Denmark, I'll buy you a beer. Who knows, if your play your cards right we might end up back at my place and post drunken ramblings online and COMPLETELY forget about it afterwards. Edited September 2, 2010 by Ibuchreitz Quote
Larry Kart Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 But Franklin Trampsteamer played the C-Malady! Quote

sage1 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Curiously short list to vote upon. My choice would be Art Pepper. Quote
John Tapscott Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Since we've already the alto thing, why not start a new one with tenor or baritone? But for either, you'll need a longer list. Quote
BeBop Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Since we've already the alto thing, why not start a new one with tenor or baritone? But for either, you'll need a longer list. Or we could just structure the tenor poll... Coleman Hawkins Lester Young One of the guys who imitated Lester Young John Coltrane One of the guys who imitated John Coltrane That about covers it, eh? BillF Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Are we going to do this seriously? If so, you have to like the giants: Hawkins Webster Lester Getz Rollins Coltrane Speaking personally, I'm particularly partial to some of the sons of Lester: Wardell Allen Eager Al Cohn and to Bird on tenor and some of his sons: Stitt early Rollins early Frank Foster Tubby Hayes Now, over to you ... P.L.M Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 So, where do you put Albert Ayler and those who imitate Albert Ayler, Evan Parker and those who imitate..., Roscoe Mitchell and those who... Warne Marsh and those..., Fred Anderson and... plus an handfull of tenor player, not obligatory born in USA? Quote
J.A.W. Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 Erh...hmm,... There are two possibilities here. I either posted this thread once when I was very drunk and first thought the idea for this poll and later forgot about it! (I usually try not to post on forums while drunk for!!) - OR - somebody posted a poll in the past and I was simply too lazy to search for it enough to find it. This is fun! What is it? Hehe, I found my own topic which is on the exact same issue from a few weeks back. That's just swell, seems I've been PUI (posting under the influence) again! God damn it! Do these boards award stupidity, if so what did I win... I've merged both threads. Quote
AllenLowe Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 thanks for mentioning me, Cliff. Just don't tell Reynolds... also, just having played a gig with Darius Jones, I may have to relinquish the nomination. Quote
mrjazzman Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 There are so many. So, I'll limit it to Parker, Stitt, Adderley, McLean, Lou Donaldson, Benny Carter, Leo Wright, Sonny Criss, Phil Woods, Art Pepper, Paul Desmond, Ernie Henry, Vincent Herring, Jesse Davis, Frank Morgan, Pony Poindexter, Sonny Red, Frank Strozier, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, there's more but I'll cut it off here.......
