Bright Moments Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 not that anyone noticed but i took 2 weeks off to go skiing with my kids in Bariloche, Argentina. Beautiful Country! One of the highlights of the trip was finally getting to meet fellow board member Marcus O from Brazil who coordinated his vacation to meet me in Bari one evening for dinner - a GREAT time. anyway - i've missed the board and i was hoping you all could catch me up with anything i might have missed - like, how did "Wallace" get banned?! Bright Moments Posted August 21, 2010 Author Report Posted August 21, 2010 Bev - did you change your user name? Quote
JSngry Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Bev - did you change your user name? Yes, I did. Quote
papsrus Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Welcome back. Sounds like you had a great time. ... Who's Wallace? Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Bev - did you change your user name? Yes, I did. And so did I, y'all; lets round up them little dowgies and mosey on out to the plains. Quote
JSngry Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 "dowgies"? Dowagers, or doggies, but not both! Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 dough-gees? 'Doggies' sounds rather Bertie Wooster, what? Quote
JSngry Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Spelled doggies, pronounced dough-geez. Just like "wire" is pronounced "war", at least in some parts. You think American English is jacked compared to British English, try Texas English... Bertie Wooster I don't know, but if it's Woo, you want, this is the guy to see: Bernie's not from Texas, but he's definitely dressed for the heat. 103 F (39.4 C) where I live right now, liable (pronounced "libel") to hit 104 before long. GA Russell Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Welcome back BM! I'm jealous that you went to Argentina! Quote
Bright Moments Posted August 21, 2010 Author Report Posted August 21, 2010 Argentina was a blast! The skiing was tops and the boys and I tried something called "Canopy" WOW!!! Paps - Wallace was an abrasive newbie who started about a month ago. He fancied himself an expert in Prog music. He and Dan G got into a bit of a spat (Dan was in the right) and now it seems he is banned. That's all I know. Oh and food was AMAZING!! Lomo, Entrana, Trucha, Vacio, Alfajores, Chocolate Caliente and Villavicencio con mas gas!!!! Quote
BruceH Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Sounds like you had a terrific time! Now I remember Wallace; he sure got off on the wrong foot. Quote
JSngry Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Argentina was a blast! The skiing was tops and the boys and I tried something called "Canopy" WOW!!! is that a skiing technique, a food, or just what, exactly? (and yeah - welcome back!) Quote
Bright Moments Posted August 21, 2010 Author Report Posted August 21, 2010 Canopy - Yes I really did this! Quote
Christiern Posted August 21, 2010 Report Posted August 21, 2010 Welcome back, BM.It's great that you and the kids had a good time—I hope you squeezed in a snow tango or two. Don't recall Wallace, but I gather that his stay here was brief and adversely memorable. Quote
Bright Moments Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 thanks chris! i had to google snow tango - looks neat!! Quote
BeBop Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 I'm not a real South America kind of guy, but I really like Bariloche. Great hiking (back when I could), good public transport, even a restaurant on 20 de Febrero that didn't laugh in my vegetarian face. Quote
AllenLowe Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) I had a hysterectomy. but I figured 6 kids are enough. Edited August 22, 2010 by AllenLowe Quote
