Leeway Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 News reports state that photographer Herman Leonard passed away on August 14th. He created many memorable jazz images, and, one might say that he helped defined the image of jazz in the public mind. His 1948 photograph of the young Dexter Gordon (with the cigarette smoke swirling upwards) is surely iconic. Quote
Guest Bill Barton Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 R.I.P. What a brilliant photographer! Mark's comments sum it up. So dramatic, so theatrical, always telling a story. Quote
