A Lark Ascending Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 (edited) I love this bit: And all this stuff, in the digital age, is literally worthless financially, and losing any value it had daily. There's nothing here a burglar would even bother with. I'm aware I'm a social relic from an age when you walked through the shopping centre with an unbagged album under your arm to show like-minded souls who you were, and when the book as an object was quietly fetishised. Stewart Lee curated an avant-garde sequence at Cheltenham this year including Evan '2ft 4in' Parker. I like the idea of calculating your collection in terms of feet and inches (instead of how many CDs). Though as I dispense with the jewel boxes, my Miles Davis is a mere 1ft 3 1/2 inches (those boxes pad it out somewhat). Edited August 1, 2010 by Bev Stapleton Quote
mjzee Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 Boy, this guy nailed it! I'm surprised he uses ft & in rather than cm. Also, almost 5 ft of Derek Bailey??? And someone still married him?? Wow, he must be quite a guy! Quote
papsrus Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 A friend of mine, Andy, has devoted his life to literature, his enormous cranium swollen with learning. His shelves always impressed me. Quote
