Christiern Posted December 29, 2003 Report Posted December 29, 2003 Thanks for the studio tour, B-3er. Kinda makes me wish I were still producing sessions. Quote
brownie Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 The year 2004 brought ears to my computing gear and the Happy Holidays tunes were at the top of my listening for the New Year. Many thanks for this musical present. My very best wishes for the New Year to the Organissimo musicians. And many more thanks for making this Forum available and for making it work. You guys are really the best Quote
mikeweil Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Well, I can't compete with THIS STUDIO. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 The 3 downloads listed in the first post by Jim still work if you haven't heard these funky takes on Christmas songs by organissimo. I have 7 tunes so I don't where the others are. Merry Christmas. Quote
vibes Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 I’ve been revisiting the original three tunes and want more. Were there ever any more recorded? The previous post suggested there were seven tunes—would love to have links to downloads (free or paid) if anyone has them. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 All 7 are available. With a little digging, I found them: A Child Is Born Christmas Time Is Here O Christmas Tree Funky Drummer Boy God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree The Christmas Song The order I have from the original releases was: O Christmas Tree God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen Funky Drummer Boy A Child Is Born Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree The Christmas Song Christmas Time Is Here Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 Actually, an older thread still has the links and includes a video of Jim A groovin' some Xmas in 2023: Quote

I always wanted more of these beyond the original three. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted December 10 Report Posted December 10 I have not been able to find the artwork Jim A originally posted for these tunes but I did find another CD backer from somewhere... Quote
vibes Posted December 11 Report Posted December 11 I'd love to have high-res versions of all these songs. Any chance you could make them available, @Jim Alfredson ? I've seen lots of bands recently making high-res downloads available for purchase via Bandcamp--would love to see this option for Organissimo (not just the Christmas tunes, too). I'd gladly pay! I told Jim he should release these tunes on LP to try and take advantage of the vinyl surge but that was two or three years ago. There are signs that LP sales may have already peaked. Quote

mikeweil Posted December 13 Report Posted December 13 The one I posted is from the very first "issue". It's the only cover I ever saw. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted Tuesday at 03:04 AM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 03:04 AM I have no idea if I even still have the source files that I made these mp3s from all those years ago. So creating 'hi-res' versions might be tough. I am working on a Christmas album with a fantastic singer for next year, though. I wanted to get it done this year but it didn't happen. We have a gig tomorrow to try out some of these tunes and see what we need to work on. It'll basically be organ trio + tenor + singer. Quote
mikeweil Posted Tuesday at 02:00 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:00 PM Sounds good. I remember the video with some Christmas solo organ you posted on YouTube - that was really enjoyable and unique among jazz Christmas music. Would like some of it on the album, too. Quote
vibes Posted Wednesday at 04:07 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:07 AM Even lossless files at regular 44.1khz/16-bit quality would be worth paying for. And as for a new album of Christmas tunes—very cool! Something to look forward to next year. Quote
