Jim Alfredson Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Well friends, I finally got my little mini-studio up and running (which is why we haven't been recording anything lately for the Organissmio Tribute CD project). I recently sold a stand-alone harddisk recorder (the one I used to record "Life Wish" with on our CD) and bought a nice computer interface so I can do all my recording right into Cubase SX. Anyway, the boyz and I got together this afternoon down in my basement and cut this track as a gift to all of you's. This features Grand Rapids saxophonist Johnny Gist on tenor, me on the B3, Joe on guitar, and of course Randy on the skins. Happy Holidays everyone! I hope the season finds you all in good health and good spirits! CLICK ME -----> A little holiday music for you! **NOTE: The best way to hear this track is to right-click the above link (for you PC users) and choose "Save Target As" from the drop-down menu. Or you can just click the link and let the mp3 stream into your player. The mp3 is encoded at 190 kbps and the file size is about 7mb. EDIT: Ok, by request, here's two more holiday tunes for everyone. The first is another recorded by Joe, Randy and I in my basement this past weekend (no sax this time). The second was recorded last year during the "Boogaloo" sessions. Enjoy! CLICK ME 2 -----> More holiday music for you! CLICK ME 3 -----> Yet another piece of holiday music for you! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 By the way, I should add for my buddy Soul Stream that the organ I played is my 1954 Hammond C2 (with TrekII percussion added) running through the Leslie 21H I recently purchased in Chicago. I love the sound of this Leslie!!! Quote
White Lightning Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Jim, Joe, randy: What a great gift! (even for those of us who don't celebrate the holidays). Thank you sooo much - you put a BIG smile on my face. Thanks! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 You're welcome, Barak. It doesn't matter if you don't celebrate the "holidays", you can't go wrong with that tune. Such a beautiful melody!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Quote
vibes Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Very nice, Jim! Great version of a great song. Any more Christmas tunes coming, by any chance? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 We did one more today that I'll probably put up soon. And we did one last year at the "Boogaloo" sessions that I can put up as well. Right now, I should get to bed! It's 7am here! I've been reading about tweaking my music computer for better performance for recording. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Great track, guys!!! Can't wait to hear the Organissimo Tribute CD (and that "Smiths" cover!!!). Thanks!!!!!! Quote
tonym Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Cheers Organissimo! That is one very nice gesture, I am trying to download it now. I normally don't download any online music; mainly because it takes so goddam long on our poxy dial-up connection. I am trying with this one though. May I use this thread to extend my best wishes to anyone enjoying a holiday season whether that be xmas, hannukah (sp?) or whatever. AND if you're not....then make the most of everyone else being a bit more relaxed and quite possibly, stocious, for a while at least. Cheers, tonym. Quote
Dan Gould Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Very nice job guys on a personal favorite of mine. Thanks, Happy Holidays to All, and I eagerly await the new CD! Quote
Big Al Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Very sweet, very greeeeazy! I would love it if you guys did a whole CD of Christmas & holiday tunes! Quote
AfricaBrass Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 This is great! I'm listening to it right now. Thanks guys! Quote
Claude Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Thanks! Great performance and recording. Sounds just like Mr.T on tenor and RVG on the console Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Thanks to all four of you. This brightened an otherwise bleak day. Thanks again. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 16, 2003 Author Report Posted December 16, 2003 Thanks! Great performance and recording. Sounds just like Mr.T on tenor and RVG on the console Ha! That's exactly what I was going for with the reverb on the horn... the RVG sound from the Muse days on up. Of course, I didn't use quite as much reverb as he does, but nevertheless... Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 16, 2003 Author Report Posted December 16, 2003 Thanks to all four of you. This brightened an otherwise bleak day. Thanks again. Sorry to hear the day has been bleak. I hope everything is all right. Quote
Christiern Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Delicious, mellow roasted chestnuts...thanks for that! Quote
Big Al Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 That's a nice picture to stare at while listening to the song. Not being from NY, is that Central Park? Quote
mikeweil Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 I saved that under file name "Christiern's Christmas". Thanks a lot, please take my return wishes y'all, and thanks for the song (and, always, this incredible board) - it'll take some time with my slow connection until I can give it a listen. Quote
couw Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 it'll take some time with my slow connection until I can give it a listen. be patient, it's worth the wait Quote
Claude Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 it'll take some time with my slow connection until I can give it a listen. Mike, maybe you've seen on german TV the ad campaign for AOL high speed internet access: "I'm still young, I can wait" Quote
Christiern Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 That's a nice picture to stare at while listening to the song. Not being from NY, is that Central Park? Yes, I took it a couple of days ago. Quote
