A Lark Ascending
Very sad. A champion of a wide range of music - big advocate of Janacek over here.
mikeweil
Very sorry to hear this. Great life story - an Australian becomes one of the most important advocates of a Czech composer ... I don't know what I would do without his recordings of Janacek's Sinfonietta. His work with period instruments orchestras was great, too, and his Brahms with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra - I could go on and on. I will miss him ... Chuck Nessa
An honest musician.
carnivore
he was called, semi-affectionally I think, by musicians who played under him as 'the penguin'
Tom 1960
I own a recording which features him with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra performing Schubert's 8'th and 9'th Symphonies. I'll give that a spin today.
