NATURE BOY was unfairly maligned when it was first issued; mostly, I believe, because it returns to a more melodic tradition, and those ever-so- adventurous critics were expecting something more "out" from Jackie McLean at this stage of his career. If it makes you feel any better, or um, more confused, I spotted one used cutout copy of each of the titles from the past 2 batches of RVGs at a local store. It was too late for me to take advantage of that offer. So many of the Blue Notes, both the older issues and more recent RVG & Conns are available as cutouts at Dusty Groove that I think something else is going on rather than titles going OOP. Fortunately I downloaded the title track a while back but I've been looking for a cheap "real" copy. There's a chance that Collectables will reissue it at some point as they do with many Atlantic titles, but I'm still awaiting a reissue of Zawinul and that hasn't happened yet.
