Teasing the Korean Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 God, we're all getting old. This means that John would have turned 70 this coming October. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 2 down, one castrated, and one to go. Quote
BruceH Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 God, we're all getting old. This means that John would have turned 70 this coming October. It's not that so much as the fact that I clearly remember Ringo turning 40 (and that seemed kind of old to me at the time.) BTW, am I the only one who thinks he's a little underrated as a rock drummer? Quote
Aggie87 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Apparently McCartney showed up at Ringo's show last night and sang "Happy Birthday" - kinda cool! Quote
B. Goren. Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 God, we're all getting old. My Mom says that if you think what the alternative is, getting old is not that bad. Quote
JSngry Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 and though she was born a long, long time ago.... Quote
Dave James Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 BTW, am I the only one who thinks he's a little underrated as a rock drummer? Yes. He's a lot underrated. Quote
cih Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Horses for courses - I always though Ringo was doing just what he needed to do. He'd have sounded pretty daft doing a Keith Moon. But what do I know about drumming? nuffink. Watching all the old footage of the Beatles on tour that was on BBC earlier this year, it's clear how integral he was, even without the drumming! Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted July 8, 2010 Author Report Posted July 8, 2010 BTW, am I the only one who thinks he's a little underrated as a rock drummer? Yes. He's a lot underrated. Whenever a drummer tells me "Ringo sucks," I reply, "OK, play 'She Said She Said' or 'Rain' and you're hired." That usually shuts them up. Amazing how rock/pop drummers under a certain age completely lack that jazzy swing feel evident in Ringo, Charlie Watts, Mick Avory, Jim McCarty, etc. Quote
JSngry Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Amazing how many jazz players lack it as well... Quote
porcy62 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 one castrated Did I miss this one? Me too  Quote
kh1958 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Paul's post-Beatle music sounds like he has been... Quote
Aggie87 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Apparently McCartney showed up at Ringo's show last night and sang "Happy Birthday" - kinda cool! Worth a view! I didn't realize until today that Joe Walsh, who's playing guitar with Ringo on this tour, is also his brother in law (they're both married to the Bach sisters). Quote

An understandable, but only-partially (if mostly) accurate perception. However, I think it sounds more like somebody who smoked too much dope and got too complacent about life in general. Quote

Musically & socially, Sir Paul seems to be missing a pair. Ringo is fine; I prefer Charlie Watts but they're both good drummers. I get more out of the Stones' music, but that's just me.[There's ol' Clifford, pissing in everybody's punch bowls again...] Quote
GA Russell Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Mick Avory Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long while! Quote

Smoking too much dope for too long has that effect on a lot of people.... Quote
