Shawn Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 It was reissued in the Turrentine Mosaic box. Quote
John L Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 This is a fantastic album, one of my favorite Turrentine's Quote
sidewinder Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 This one has a real 'end of an era' feeling to it IMO. A superb session - but with a bit of a sad feel to it. Quote
brownie Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Listened to that one a while ago when I was on a Stanley Turrentine listening mood (which happens fairly often). One of his best date! My copy 'Liberty/UA 1970' looks better than the one chewy linked It also bears the Rudy Van Gelder stamp on both sides! Quote

jlhoots Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 I'm happy to stick with the Mosaic box. Quote
Shawn Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Glad Chewy started this thread, it gave me the impetus to pull the Mosaic out and listen to this session last night. What a GEM! Also played Mr. Natural which is another favorite. Quote

mikeweil Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 I love Thad Jones' playing, so I always wanted to hear this album someday. Seems I will have to go for the Mosaic ... Quote

You also get Comin' Your Way, Jubilee Shout, A Chip Off The Old Block, Mr. Natural and In Memory Of (the last 2 never on CD outside the Mosaic, afaik). Quote
jeffcrom Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 This is one of my favorite Turrentine albums, not that I've heard them all. Mine has the Van Gelder stamp. Quote
JSngry Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 This is the one that was on the turntable of mine that got stolen back in 1979 before I actually played it. Ain't that a bitch? Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted June 19, 2010 Author Report Posted June 19, 2010 wait yrs is liberty/UA....hmm--- Quote

Of course, of course ... not that I wanted to complain. It's only that, if it's such a good album, it would have deserved a single reissue. JSngry Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Well, actually it was. And I had my doors locked. Wasn't a good day, that one wasn't. Quote

Do you still have the album cover/inner sleeve at least? Maybe just replacing the vinyl wouldn't be too expensive. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted June 19, 2010 Author Report Posted June 19, 2010 your copys out there somewhere Jsngry-- im gonna find it for u! Quote
JSngry Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Actually, I do still have the cover. And a good friend provided me with a burn of the album a few years ago. Very nice indeed, and well worth the wait! Arichewy, if you find my copy, see if you can find my Mark VI alto too...that got lifted as well. Quote

JSngry Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Most likely, yeah. Pretty much lost everything of real value except my tenor, and that was because I was out sitting in w/Marchel @ the old Recovery Room. Quote
