sidewinder Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 I don't know who is the worse at the moment - the England team - or France ! Just one more match (against South Africa) and France will finally bid ADIEU to Domenech. Good riddance! Was he the coach? When the camera did close-ups I thought he was one of the spectators.. Quote
B. Goren. Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 South Africa this week: This is another reason why I love football, Quote
Brad Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Particularly Brasil Looks like Germany could be in some trouble since you assume that Ghana will pick up some points from Australia and Serbia the same when they meet the Aussies. That could leave Germany a tough match with Ghana to move on. Quote
B. Goren. Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) It was not the same Germany who played 5 days ago. No idea what happened to them. Edited June 18, 2010 by B. Goren. Quote
kenny weir Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) you assume that Ghana will pick up some points from Australia and Serbia the same when they meet the Aussies. Ha - Go Socceroos! Go Socceroos? Kenny's fall-back position: Go you freaking Kiwis! (Kenny, NZ passport holder/citizen, who's been too lazy to take out Oz citizenship despite living here for 20+ years ...) I just like drama and upsets and underdogs upsetting apple carts! Maybe by the end of the weekend it'll all be clearer. But at the moment, what to we have? France in dis-array, Spain beaten by the Swiss, Germany losing in the group stage for the first time since Lord knows when, England drawing with the US ... Bring it on! brownie Posted June 18, 2010 Author Report Posted June 18, 2010 Yes Germany seemed on an off day but they faced Serbia with a 10-man team most of the game. And Serbian goalie Stojkovic stopped a rather weak penalty shot by Podolski! Quite an upset this match! Quote
B. Goren. Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 brownie, I wonder how the French press criticizes the national team and the coach. And Serbian goalie Stojkovic stopped a rather weak penalty shot by Podolski! My daughter (15) kicks better than Podolski. Quote
brownie Posted June 18, 2010 Author Report Posted June 18, 2010 brownie, I wonder how the French press criticizes the national team and the coach. They're being murdered! Too bad the guillotine is not being in use these days Quote
Stefan Wood Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Not looking good at all for the US. Down 2-0 with still 3/4 of the match left to play. You'd think since '92 that we made some progress, but nope. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Sonovabitch, they TIED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
J.A.W. Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 The third American goal was not offside; the referee probably disallowed it because he saw a foul. I think it should have counted. Strange game. The Germans had a terrible off day... Quote

J.A.W. Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Half time: England 0, Algeria 0 England are playing appallingly bad... Could it be that this is an overrated team? Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Why can't we get cell phone cozies like that over here! Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Any pictures of semi-naked English or Algerian female fans, to make something positive of that horrible sterile mess of a match. Quote
J.A.W. Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Whoa, this is a horrible game with very bad football/soccer. I'm not a big fan of the English team, but I never expected this from them. Quote
J.A.W. Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Full time, 0-0. I'd rather not comment anymore. The European favourites are not doing what's expected from them. Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 (edited) My eyes are hurting.. I don't know who is the worse at the moment - the England team - or France ! You're now it, guess we'll have to be crappy against South Africa big time . On somewhat positive news, we have three groups who are now down to their last match and no team has yet qualifyed or being eliminated Edited June 18, 2010 by Van Basten II Quote
Van Basten II Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 On somewhat positive news, we have three groups who are now down to their last matche and no team has yet qualyfied or being eliminated Not quite, Argentina have qualified yesterday because they won both their games and therefore can't be overtaken anymore by the two teams they beat, so they'll at least finish second - see rule d) above. There is a chance of a 3 way tie with 3 teams with 6 points if Greece wins and Korea wins and goal differential being the first tiebreaker, there is a very slim chance that Argentina fails if they lose by something like 3 goals and Korea doing something similar to Nigeria. Brad Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Pretty unbelieveable is all I can say. Over on ESPN Steve Mcmanaman absolutely killed them. The one thing is sure that Algeria is no push over. However, they can't score. Unless England get their act together, they will be heading home and if that comes to pass, I wouldn't head home for awhile. Quote
Clunky Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 England were terrible, worst thing I've seen yet in this World Cup and let's face it there have been plenty of other dull moments. I was bored.... ever so bored..... Quote
porcy62 Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 I don't know who is the worse at the moment - the England team - or France ! Just wait for Italy, you'll got another choice. Quote
