Teasing the Korean Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 This has been sitting on my shelf and has been on my "to read" list for years. Opinions seem to be very divided on it. Either that it is a timeless classic, or that it is hopelessly outdated with its Freudian perspective (It was first published in 1949). I've never read anything by Campbell. Is this worth reading, or is there something better that has come out in more recent decades? Quote
Joe G Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 It's been years since I've read Campbell, but I remember that one not being my favorite. Myths to Live By and Flight of the Wild Gander(both late 60's) are interesting reads, and his magnum opus, the Historical Atlas of World Mythology (any of its volumes), is worth a look if you can find it at the library. B. Clugston Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Haven't read it in years, but really enjoyed it when I first read it. Quote
