alankin Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Agreed. I enjoyed hearing the marimba on some of the tracks. Quote
Pete C Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 OT: Alan, good to see your name again. After you stopped updating your new releases & Philly site I wondered what had happened to you. Quote

fomafomic65 Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Any thoughts on his latest release? I ordered it after reading a review stating it is some of the very best Savant productions ever. Chambers plays hommage to some of the music I grew with and love best, here. I like him very much in his classic Blue Note recordings with Shorher Hutcherson and Hill, where he is really GREAT, but he never convinced me much in some other more recent recordings as a leader (maybe the impossible comparision issue, though). IMO his earlier Savant release 'The Outlaw' is better but I've enjoyed all the later releases that I've heard. I particularly like his 1998 release - 'Mirrors'. Edited June 12, 2010 by Head Man Quote
webbcity Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 I've been curious about this one, may have to give it a try. I absolutely LOVE the stuff he did with Hutcherson (and esp. the Hutcherson/Land group) in the late 60s. Quote
