The timings differ by a few seconds here and there, but that may well just be because the disco or the CD listing includes some silence etc... The most interesting thing seems to be #2, "Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah", which seems to be previously unreleased! Other than that, my guess is it's just yet another slightly silly repacking. A bit silly that they couldn't add that one track to the "Newport Rebels" CD! Edited May 26, 2010 by king ubu Quote
JohnS Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) I spoke to Alan Bates some years ago and he said that there was still unissued Candid material (Jaki Byard was mentioned as I recall). Though as nothing new has emerged for many years I guess this is likely to be another repackaging. Edited May 26, 2010 by JohnS Quote
king ubu Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 So just the one track (Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah) is new, and the rest isn't from any newly discovered reels w/outtakes (see note to the first session above), you guess? Quote

king ubu Posted May 26, 2010 Author Report Posted May 26, 2010 So jazzdiscography.com is in error about "Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah" - it's indeed on the Jazz Life CD! And so there are two takes of "T'aint Nobody's Business if I Do" - I assume the one on "Candid Roach" (you don't list that release above!) is the other one than on Straight Ahead? Quote
